Mark Bruce Company brings its savagely beautiful dance-theatre production to Bournemouth

Blending an exhilarating soundtrack with high-quality dance, epic themes and a diverse range of characters, Made in Heaven, Mark Bruce’s latest dance-theatre production, comes to Pavilion Dance on Thursday 7 June.

The Prairie Girl, decked out in vintage blue gingham, wakes to find herself part of a dark and surreal world. Stuck on an island guarded by a red-neck cop, there is no escape; and her beautiful yet disturbing journey sees her encounter severed heads, mermaids and savages, whilst dreaming of another life.

Darting from romantic to rock, the all-encompassing soundtrack ranges from Chopin and Debussy to The White Stripes and The Kills, with some Queens of the Stone Age thrown in for good measure.

With a stylish 50s feel, Made in Heaven is visually unique and has a Tarantino cinematic style that challenges the expectations of contemporary dance and promises to enlighten the audience just as much as it entertains.
