Overview
At Pavilion Dance South West, we like to provide as many schools opportunities as possible. We host a variety of schools workshops with our visiting artists, as well as offering exclusive schools performances. Schools are also welcome to apply to enter dance groups into U.Dance South West 2013 in March, and our Spotlight Showcase in June. Additionally, we run bespoke projects involving schools throughout the year.

We are currently working with Winchelsea School on an extra special project. Winchelsea will be bringing their whole school to a closed performance of The Selfish Giant at Pavilion Dance. We like to develop similar relationships with other schools. If your school would like to develop a partnership with us, please contact gemma.connell@dancesouthwest.org.uk
Link with Bournemouth and Poole College
Pavilion Dance have established strong links with Bournemouth and Poole College. To enable the Foundation Dance degree students to gain experience working with key stage 1 and 2 students, we are offering local Primary schools the opportunity to have university student’s work with them. This would involve a day of dance workshops at Pavilion Dance, on a set theme.
The subjects choices are:
Space and the Solar System/Rainforests/Egyptians/Romans/The Elements
The degree students will develop creative material around the chosen theme, and the year group, ideally with some liaison direct with the school’s class teacher. The University students will be assessed as a part of their course, which requests them to gain skills working in the wider community, hence the partnership with Pavilion Dance.
The week will culminate in a sharing on the 1st February at 1pm, in our Ocean Room Theatre. All schools must be available for this sharing.
If you would like your class to be involved in a workshop please fill in the Schools Activity Form (noting your choice of date and subject, a half day slot either 9.30am until 12pm or 1pm till 3.30pm) and return it to gemma.connell@dancesouthwest.org.uk by Friday 9th November 2012. Places will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
